EI UBG-16 Data Downloader

Shortly after purchasing my plane, I installed an Electronics International UBG-16 engine monitor, which includes the MUX-8A data recorder.  This will record your engine data every minute or so, and allow you to download the data to your computer for analysis.

The only problem with this is that I need to drag my computer out to the plane, boot up Windows, and use EI’s software to download the data.  I thought there had to be a better way to do this, so I started designing a portable, stand-alone device that would plug in to the instrument panel and download the data to a micro SD card.
